Seasoned aerospace executive with vast innovation experience will lead the industrialization of the company’s patented additive manufacturing technology
PLATTSBURGH, NY — May 8, 2018 — Norsk Titanium AS (Norsk), the global leader in manufacturing aerospace-grade titanium components using their patented Rapid Plasma Deposition™ (RPD™) process, announced today that Michael J. Canario will join the company as President and Chief Executive Officer.
Canario currently serves as President – Aerospace, Americas & Corporate Business Development for Hexcel, a world leader in advanced composites for commercial aerospace, space and defense and industrial applications. During his more than 20-year tenure with Hexcel, a company that has been driving innovation in materials and solutions for 70 years, Canario has held executive positions across several business functions, including sales and marketing, financial planning and analysis, and operations. “By demonstrating strong leadership skills in commercial aerospace through an entrepreneurial and innovative setting, we have no doubt Mike is exceptionally well-equipped to lead our company,“ said Norsk’s Chairman and Interim CEO, John Andersen, Jr. “While our current focus is structural titanium components for aerospace, RPD™ is truly a platform technology. In this, we will benefit from Mike’s track-record for developing strong relationships with strategic business partners.”
“The opportunity to lead a pioneer in the emerging field of digital manufacturing is truly exciting. Norsk is poised for tremendous growth by enabling the aerospace supply chain to deliver significant cost and cycle time reductions through the application of truly innovative technology. I’m impressed by what Norsk has accomplished to date and the potential for further extension. I look forward to creating a substantial value proposition for all stakeholders by working with our team, industrial partners and customers,“ said Michael J. Canario.
Canario holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University. He will assume his role in early June.
